ERL minimizes development costs at the OEM and supplier through a closed-loop design and development process that develops the design or evaluates the design with a competitive seat.

ERL, LLC is a software and engineering services firm that has provided seat design and evaluation services to the automotive industry.   ERL seat designs are developed in CAD-integrated software, using an optimization algorithm and patented human body models to calculate seat patches at loaded and contact points on the STO surface.

Seat evaluation uses the same software, but adds a measurement of seat stiffness and the scanned surface of the seat to constrain the optimization algorithm.   The result, in both cases, is a Comfort Score that correlates highly (r=0.8) with ride data from drivers.   ERL's proprietary software is the only seat design software in the world and represents a major advance in the state of the art in seat design and evaluation.
